Aaron Helander, Head Swim Coach
Aaron Helander has been swimming competitively for over 20 years. He started his career at his local YMCA where he got the nickname “iron lung” for his love of playing underwater. Aaron is a graduate from Oakland University. He is happy to be able to join Heart this year and spend some time with the swimmers!
Heart of the Hills 2025 Summer Swim Team
Heart of the Hills is proud to compete in the NSSL Swim League with their 160 member-strong team. Fostering a strong community of swimmers from ages 4 to 18, the team is happy to welcome back Aaron Helander as our head coach for the 2025 Season, along with a strong team of returning assistant coaches. Signups for the team will open on April 15th for HHSC members. Limited non-member, practice only memberships will be available. Not sure if you’re ready to officially compete? HHSC will again encourage swim lesson graduates to continue swimming with the Pre-Team.
Tentative 2025 Spring Practice Schedule:
12 & Up (6th grade and up): 3pm-4:30pm
9 – 12: 4:30pm-5:30pm
8 & Under: 5:15pm-6:00pm
Tentative 2025 Summer Practice Schedule (June 16th-July 18th):
13 & Up (6th grade and up): 7am-8:30am
11-12: 8:30am-9:30am
9 – 10: 9:30am-10:25am
8 & Under/Pre-Team: 10:25-11:10am

Heart of the Hills 2025 Swim Lessons
Swim Lessons will again be available for HHSC members this summer, with signups opening up in late April. Our program, coached by veteran swimmers and lifeguard staff focuses on educating our youngest members through the first three levels of swim instruction:
- Parent/Tot through Level 3 will be offered ($50/session)
- Some levels may be combined due to continued staffing shortages
- Lessons to be held from 11:20 -12 pm daily (40 minutes) during three different two-week sessions throughout the summer.
