Swim Lessons for 2024

Registration for lessons will be through Member Splash this year.

SWIM LESSONS FOR MEMBERS!

Swimming lessons will be offered again this summer with some modifications due to changing economic times and staffing difficulties.  Members should be aware that swimming lessons for Parent/Tot through Level 3 will be offered this summer for a nominal fee ($45/session).  There will be 3 different two-week sessions, just like in the past.  Swimming lessons will be available from 11:20-12:00 (40 minutes).  We are not able to offer swimming lessons for swimmers in levels 4-6 this summer.  Swimmers that are Levels 4-6 will be encouraged to join our PreTeam (practice daily, but no swim meets) or full team swim team (practice daily and participate in meets).  Additional staff will be on hand to run our PreTeam sessions this summer and really work to develop our young swimmers!

Groups will be limited to 8 swimmers to allow a lot of interaction with the instructor.  They may sell out.

Parent-Tot classes require an adult in the water with the child for the entire lesson and may only be offered during Session 1.  If enrolled in Parent-Tot, other children under age 6 MUST be supervised by an adult or enrolled in a simultaneous lesson at HHSC.  Older siblings (ages 2-5) may not just sit on the side or in a chair.  This is dangerous and will not be tolerated.  Parent/Tot enrollee will be removed from class and no refund will be provided if this occurs.

 2024 Session Dates:

Session 1:  June 10- June 22  ($45/session)

Session 2:  June 24 – July 4 (9 dates – no class July 5)  ($40/session)

Session 3:  July 8 – July 19  ($45/session)

HHSC staff works hard to ensure that we can still provide low cost swim lessons to our youngest members who are still working to be comfortable and safe in the water. Please help in ensuring that it is fun and successful for all members.

Notes: Lessons will run as scheduled, except in the event of inclement weather. If there are storms – thunder, lightning, etc. within 30 minutes of a class, it will be canceled. If outdoor temperatures are below 60 degrees at 11am, lessons will also be canceled. Lessons will typically take place in a light rain or mist, but not in an extreme heavy downpour. In the event that we have to cancel more than 3 lessons in a session, we will attempt to schedule make-up lessons the week of July 22.  Make-up lessons can not be guaranteed, but will be attempted. No make-up lessons will be scheduled if less than 1-3 lessons are canceled in a session.

SWITCHING CLASSES: If you find you need to switch a class after you register, you will need to CANCEL your original selection by following the cancellation policy stated below.  You will then need to re-register for the course you would like to enroll.  We are not able to just move students from one class to another behind the scenes.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  Refunds will be given if requested 7 days prior to a session start date.  No refunds provided within 7 days of the session’s first day or after the start of a session.  No refunds provided if 1-3 lessons are cancelled in a session due to poor weather.  Refunds will not include any processing fees from MemberSplash. To request a refund, you must document it in writing to swim@hhscswim.org.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I go when I have a question regarding Swim Lessons?  Whenever you have a question or concern regarding swim lessons please contact the swim lessons coordinator at swim@hhscswim.org.

Do I need to worry about bad weather?
Since our swim lessons are held in an outdoor pool there are days when the weather becomes a problem. If it is raining so that the bottom of the pool cannot be seen, or thunder or lightening is spotted lessons will be cancelled. Please call up to the pool and verify if lessons are cancelled.

My Child may have to miss a class. Can we make it up?
Unfortunately, make-up classes are not possible. If you have to miss due to another engagement or your child is sick, that is fine.  You will not lose your spot.

Why are lessons only offered for Parent/Tot through Level 3 this year? Limited staffing resources and rising costs forced this change.  Level 4+ swimmers should join PreTeam or the full swim team.  Check out the swim team page for more information.
